Biography
Laura Walther-Broussard, LCSW, OSW-C, has been a Sr. Social Work Counselor at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX since 2003. She provides psychosocial/therapeutic counseling for cancer patients and their loved ones, completes psychosocial assessments to determine coping strategies, links with appropriate community resources, and participates in a multi-disciplinary team to address patient issues and ensure continuity of care in the ICU.
She has been a clinical social worker for over 20 years in various disciplines such as services to undocumented individuals, HIV+ patients, pregnant teenagers, veterans, and homeless families. Since 2008 she has volunteered her time along with her companion dogs with Caring Critters in Houston, TX providing animal-assisted interactions for inpatients at St Luke's Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
