Biography

Maria Stine is a clinical social worker with 20 years of experience working in the medical and school social work fields.  In 2012 she began working on the postgraduate certification in Veterinary Social Work and completed her certification in spring of 2017.  She is interested in bringing the compassion fatigue management and self-care message to animal healthcare workers and rescue group volunteers, and applying animal assisted interventions in her clinical work with clients who have communication difficulties.  She currently works as a school social worker in Stanly County (NC) and has a part time private psychotherapy practice that is community based (meet in clients home, or in a farm/nature setting) and specializes in working with people affected by trauma, depression, anxiety, or communication difficulties who prefer or need a setting that is not office-based.  She also has a farm in northeastern Union County where she lives with her husband Eric and daughter Maddie, 8, 9 horses, a dog, 5 cats and various reptiles and amphibians.
