Further Details:

What are the prerequisites for attendance?

In order to attend the workshops one must have completed the online modules associated with the content.

The Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) workshop will be offered on March 11 & 12 from 8am-5pm.

The rest of the workshop dates are March 13-17 from 8am – 5pm, and will cover content on Grief and Bereavement, Compassion Fatigue & Conflict Management, and Link between Human and Animal Violence. All 3 modules must be completed to attend this portion of the workshop.

What is the cost?

The cost of the entire event (March 11-17) is $950. The cost of the 2-day AAI workshop is $300 and the cost of the 5-day workshop on Grief and Bereavement, Compassion Fatigue & Conflict Management, and the Link will be $650.

Is continuing education approved by the NASW?

Individuals will receive continuing education contact hours; NASW approval has been received for both the AAI Workshop and 5 day VSW Intensive.

The AAI workshop has been approved for 8 NASW contact hours. Attendance during the 5-day intensive workshop would be 34.5 contact hours.

Will attendance at these workshops fulfill requirements for the Veterinary Social Work Certificate?

If I am interested in only one topic (for example Compassion Fatigue & Conflict Management), can I complete that module and attend the workshop?

The content on Compassion Fatigue & Conflict Management, Grief and Bereavement, and the Link are intimately related to each other in regards to the human impact in animal related issues; therefore, this content will be presented together. If you are interested in any one of these topics you will have to complete all 3 modules and attend all 5 days.

Content on Animal Assisted Interventions can be completed separately.

What if I have already completed some of the face-to-face workshops in the past that are now a part of the 5-day intensive?

You will still have to attend the 5-day intensive workshop; however, attendance will be prorated $220 per module. A member of the VSW team can verify with you your prorated amount.

Where will this be held?

The workshops will be held in the Tickle Conference Room at The University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center (UTVMC) (2407 River Dr, Knoxville TN, 37996)

A block of rooms will be held at the Knoxville Marriott (501 E Hill Ave, Knoxville, TN 37915)

Will there be transportation to the workshop from the hotel?

No, however we will provide parking passes to park at the UTVMC.
