Veterinary Social Work Program Assistant

Biography

Laura received her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at the University of Southern Mississippi and recently graduated from the University of Tennessee with her Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) and Veterinary Social Work Certificate. Laura has experience working with youth and families. She previously interned at the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence- the largest, most comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault organization in the state of Mississippi.

Laura currently works as a school-based therapist and assists part-time with the Veterinary Social Work Certificate Program. Laura’s interests include the intersection of intimate partner violence and animal violence, assisted animal interventions, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MSBR), and access and utilization of mental health services in Asian American communities.

In Laura’s free time, she likes photography, traveling, and drawing. She loves spending time with Penny- her Boston terrier and catching up on the latest, Korean dramas.
